WOW

We at TOD are little skeptical of there being any truth to the Bruce Pearl offer. I'm not saying they won't, but that there isn't an offer out there yet. I think we are going after someone with a little more "WOW" first.

Blake

To update on Pearl, a credible recruiting site, Zagsblog, believes Pearl will be contacted by Memphis today.

Rocky Top Talk is basically taking the bullet for Pearl coming to Memphis already...

i don't see why you would be skeptical. gotta fill the seat while it's still hot and while bruce isn't a WOW he has been successful and could do similar things to what john did (i.e. win a bunch of CUSA games and get a 1 or 2 seed and play way into s16 or e8).

I'm skeptical because, like Blake said, there isn't an offer yet. AND because Pearl has come out and said recently that he just went through a divorce and wants to stay close to his kids so his b**** of an ex-wife doesn't brain wash them. (I was paraphrasing mostly) However, I don't see Pearl making the move down I-40. I would like to get a new coach who's not afraid to bust out a royal blue blazer... but sadly blue man boobs aren't as appealing as orange man boobs.

Pearl is a good coach. He's be a decent fit here. Word from UT this morning is that they're giving him more money.

Also, Memphis is looking for bigger fish first... One in particular who would help Memphis fans forget all about Calipari.

7 year, $21 mil. I don't understand going after Bruce Pearl anyway. But hey, if he turns it down, it just gives him more leverage for UT to give him a raise.

reposted comment from other post:
Like Blake's wife, I think I could fake it with Bruce Pearl for a while and I think all memphis fans would. But if salvages our season we will quickly forget his ridiculously inappropriate behavior with UT students and his ridiculous and unmatched ability to sweat a metric ton each game. I just hope he doesn't buy a bright blue blazer.
