Your 2009 Memphis Tigers Starting Lineup...

Fear not, Tiger Fans.

Following The Game of Which We Will Not Speak, the departure of Derrick Rose, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Joey Dorsey was gut-wrenching for Tiger Fans. Memphis' Big Three made up for 50% of the points, 45% of the rebounds and 100% of TV attention, YouTube clips, and facials...

(Even though DRose is technically on the receiving end, it's clear to see that he won this battle.)

So what is a Tiger Fan to do? I am here to tell you, there is hope...

Projected Starting Lineup:
PG: Willie Kemp 6-2 Jr. PG, Tyreke Evans 6-6 Fr.

Tyreke is on the far left, working his way up to the true blue in which he belongs. Using a picture from "The Street" adds a certain something, don't you think?

SG: Antonio Anderson 6-6 Sr., Tyreke Evans 6-6 Fr.
SF: Wesley Witherspoon 6-8 Fr.
PF: Robert Dozier 6-9 Sr.
C: Shawn Taggart 6-10 Jr.

Key Reserves: Doneal Mack 6-5 Jr. SG, Jeff Robinson 6-5 So. SG, Roburt Sallie 6-5 So. SG/SF, C.J. Henry 6-3 Fr. SG, Pierre Henderson-Niles 6-8 Jr. PF

While Tyreke will be getting a lot of the media attention, the guys around him are not too shabby. We are still strong in the guard department. Early reports claim that Kemp has grown significantly and will be a leader for the guards. Anderson will likely back Kemp up at the PG role. Tyreke will be getting playing time at the point, shooting guard, and possibly the three spot. The big question for the 08-09 Tigers is the reliability of the inside game.

As was seen so evidently in The Game of Which We Will Not Speak, the Tiger's inside presence could not hold their own when Dorsey wasn't prowling the paint. Can Dozier, Taggart and Niles step up? We shall see. Dozier (still) needs to add muscle and keep hustlin'. The Tigers will need his leadership this year. Niles needs to take Mike Golic's advice and "Get in the game!" with Nutri-System and stay away from the Golden Arches. I believe Taggart will become the focal point of the Tiger's inside game. He showed flashes of promise last year. With another season under his belt and some more muscle under his jersey, he will end up filling the void left by Dorsey.

Nice site! I do have one disagreement though. I think its a lock that Evans will be a starter. He will start at the 2 and Anderson at the 3 with Witherspoon coming off the bench. I think Evans will be the conference MVP (despite getting left off the preseason All CUSA team today.

I disagree rob. Wesley has some serious talent, and he is gonna take a lot of people by surprise. It's definitely going to be an amazing season!

Yeah, Tyreke will be a definite starter. The most recent report I read from the folks inside had Kemp starting at the point. That might hold for a game or two, but Tyreke will be starting at some position from day 1.

All I know is Pierre Nile should drop out of school and concentrate on his career in the Nathan's Hotdog Eating Contest circuit...

I never said Witherspoon was not talented but that he would not be starting over Evans. Witherspoon will get plenty of PT but definitely needs to put on some weight to be a force at SF with the big boy teams.
